Matthew Azer joined Pollart Miller, LLC in July of 2022. Mr. Azer has 30 years of experience as an attorney. He has represented a wide range of clients in regulatory law, professional and occupational discipline law, workers’ compensation defense, civil litigation, criminal defense, securities law, and general administrative law.

He has extensive experience in not only defending a wide variety of litigation matters, but also in hearing these matters as the Director and Chief Administrative Law Judge for the state of Colorado.

Matthew focuses his practice on insurance defense litigation, including representing companies and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation and liability matters, as well as representing individuals facing professional discipline from state licensing boards.

Prior to joining Pollart Miller, LLC, Mr. Azer served as the Director and Chief ALJ of the Colorado Office of Administrative Courts for 15 years. This is the administrative court which hears all of workers’ compensation and regulatory cases for the state of Colorado. In addition, Mr. Azer served from 2004 through 2007 as a program director for the Division of Professions and Occupations, managing the Dental Board, Accountancy Board, Nursing Home Administrators, Chiropractic board and Outfitters Board. From 2001 through 2004, Mr. Azer served as an attorney general prosecuting cases for the Board of Medical Examiners as well as representing the State of Colorado in complex Tort litigation. Mr. Azer has also represented major insurance companies in both workers’ compensation defense and civil litigation. He began his legal career as a public defender in Arapahoe County, representing clients in both felonies and misdemeanors.

He is proactive in his representation of clients. Responsive to all calls and communications, Mr. Azer receives, and is diligent in following up with requests for information, advise or comment. Embracing a client-centered approach, he empowers clients to make informed decisions about their cases. As an attorney, he is always mindful of how he would want to be represented, if he was in the client’s position.

Mr. Azer grew up in Minnesota but has called Colorado his home since 1989. He is married with two children.

Mr. Azer enjoys spending time with his three dogs and his family. He is also a self-taught musician who plays bass guitar in a local band.
